Available Inner Barrel Part Numbers:

  • MCSTRT-C13 – 14.75"
  • MCSTRT-C07 – 16.25"
  • MCSTRT-C06 – 16.50"
  • MCSTRT-C00 – 18" uncut. This is our longest barrel available. Intended for operators who wish to cut the barrel themselves.
  • MCSTRT-C99 – Custom-cut to your desired length OR matched to your existing inner barrel length. Requires shipment of your existing inner barrel + completion of our ordering form.

⚠️ Important: All inner barrels are shipped undrilled. You (or your shop) will need to drill for proper fork assembly fitment, unless you use our optional match drilling services. See the Optional Services section below.

Measuring Your Inner Barrel:

To ensure you order the correct part number, follow these steps:

  1. Remove your existing inner barrel. Separate the lower strut assembly from the shock strut tube assembly. (See Cessna Maintenance instructions to complete this operation).
  2. Remove upper bearing and lock ring from the top of the inner barrel.
  3. Remove fasteners, metering pin assembly, and then pull fork from the lower end of the inner barrel.
  4. Measure from edge to edge. Use a tape measure to determine the length from one end to the opposite end of the inner barrel. Reference the image in figure 1.
  5. Check our available sizes. If your measurement matches one of our FAA-PMA sizes (14.75”, 16.25”, 16.50”), select the corresponding part number. If your measurement does not exactly match, you may round up to the nearest 1/8”. This tolerance is acceptable.
  6. If your measurement does not fit one of the standard cut lengths, you will need to use a custom length.
  7. For custom lengths: Use the measure taken, rounding up to the next nearest 1/4”. Select P/N MCSTRT-C99 and complete the customer form. You will be required to mail us your existing inner barrel so that we can cut to the exact length. Service fee is required.

Add An Optional Service:

We can perform additional machining services to save you time and ensure proper fit:

  1. Cut to Length Service: $150
    1. Send us your existing inner barrel.
    2. We cut your new inner barrel to the exact length required.
  2. Match Drill (Only) Service: $500
    1. For customers who already purchased a cut-to-length barrel.
    2. We match drill the lower fork bolt hole using your original barrel.
    3. Torque link mounting hole will also be drilled if required.
  3. Match Drill & Cut to Length Service: $600
    1. Send us your existing inner barrel.
    2. We cut your new inner barrel to the exact length required.
    3. We also match drill the lower fork bolt hole using your original barrel.
    4. Torque link mounting hole will also be drilled if required.

For all services, your old inner barrel must be mailed to us for precision matching.

Tips for Custom-Cutting

If you choose to order the uncut 18" inner barrel P/N MCSTRT-C00:

  • Be cautious with chrome plating. Cutting improperly can cause the chrome to peel.
  • Recommended tools: well-maintained bandsaw, lathe tooling, or use precision tooling for grinding through the chrome plating first and then sawing through the barrel.
  • Clean thoroughly before and after cutting. Remove debris, shavings, oil, or plating residue before installation.
  • Drilling required: the bolt hole to affix the fork assembly to the inner barrel must be drilled. Consider using our match drilling services for precision and safety.
  • Shop recommended: many customers choose to send their uncut inner barrel to a shop or specialty facility for proper cutting. We recommend this.
